As its been so quiet from Risc Os Open, I thought I’d better ask to see how things are progressing with openning up more of the insides of Risc Os.

Stil on track for release 2? And what is the main thing that is slowing down the release schedule? When do you think all of Risc Os will be opened up?

Cheers nx

Yes, sorry it’s been so quiet – busy on “paying the bills” work! :-)

We intend to do the next release for the October show, where we’ll be exhibiting. Steve may come along with more details in a reply later. If we have the time, in addition to releasing sources on the site we’d like to make CDs available too – we’re copying the idea from the NetSurf guys who found their CDs very popular at Wakefield.

RISC OS Open will be at the South East show on the 20th October. I will also be going along to the Ipswitch RISC OS User Group meeting on the 3rd October.

We’re definitely hoping to have more sources released in time for the SE Show and have been doing more behind-the-scenes work recently (such as web site bug fixes and source control/backup changes that you won’t see but make things better for us).

I’m hoping to have all of the Batch One stuff pre-built and available as a tarball on our site Real Soon Now, then I can put a bit more time into getting more sources out.

Batch One is all done and dusted (has been for a while now, I just forgot about this thread) so you can download just two archives:

  • the build environment
  • the sources

put them together and you’re most of the way there (just need to run a couple of magic scripts to install the commercial C Tools bits).

If you don’t have the time, tools or patience to build stuff from the Batch One release but do want to get hold of the binaries (e.g. of a module) just download the archive which has everything conveniently pre-built in it.
