ROOL "Mats for Code" Offer

Posted by Steve Revill Tue, 26 Jun 2007 12:40:00 GMT

RISC OS Open are offering a free “Map of the RISC OS community” mouse mat and double matching coaster set to all of the first one hundred people who submit useful changes to the released RISC OS sources.

The mat and coaster sets would normally retail at £6.20 but we’re going to give them away for free (we’ll even pay the postage and packing) to everyone who submits code to us.

The rules are pretty simple:

  • The authors of the first 100 qualifying code submissions get a free set
  • People who have already submitted code to us count towards this total
  • Include your address details in your change log along with the code
  • Our judgement of “useful” changes will be final!
  • Code submissions should be made to code@riscosopen.org

We don’t consider people correcting spelling/grammar in comments in the code or renaming variables to be useful changes! :)

To help people along a bit, we’ve put a few starter jobs into our bug tracker – take a look at the “New features for RISC OS” milestone. Feel free to add your own tickets here for things which you’d like to see fixed or improved (in the released components).

Were my changes to !CloseUp enough to get a MouseMat?

  2. Steve Revill (20) said about 6 hours later:

Yes. Broadly speaking, if your changes are “accepted”, we will put them into our cvs repository. If we think something is no use, there isn’t much point putting it into cvs.

To avoid wasting effort, it’s always worth discussing any planned developments in the “Peer review” part of our forum. That way, other developers (including us) will get a chance to give advice.

Drop me your postal address to code@riscosopen.org and I’ll get a mouse mat set into the post for you.

    :)
